These are very big and strong animals; thus the males are about 24-27 inches (61-69 cm) high and the bitches are about 22-25 inches (56-63 cm) high at the withers. The weight of the bitches is naturally smaller being about 85-115 pounds (38-52 kg) while the males weigh about 95-130 pounds (43-59 kg.) These hounds are very protective and they treat the members of the family, relatives and friends well. These animals are very susceptive and may be even aggressive towards strangers, though it is not a characteristic of the breed.
